Age No Bar!

This is for all the timeless beauties I know… Ageless in mind and body! Thank you for staying true to your self!!

I’ve been told that there is something definitely wrong with me for I have no qualms in admitting my age… In fact I declare it without any reservations and pretensions. Why would I not? If this is how old I am…and proudly so… Then why would I pretend to be what I am not or ‘camouflage’ it. Some things are beyond my comprehension… I admit it!

For me, every birthday is a celebration…of a year gone by and another year to look forward to and a day filled with much happiness and celebration. Be it a good year or a bad one…or a mixed bag of feelings…the happy moments are often balanced out with tough times, painful memories, tribulations and all that life throws across at you. These are learnings…experiences and well, what ‘LIFE’ is all about. The challenge is to accept it, face it, go with the flow and move on to the year ahead.

It is only when you go through the worst that you appreciate the better things of life. But coming back to birthdays, there is no point in having one if it is not going to be surrounded by festivity and love and celebrated to the hilt. Be it with friends or family, there is much to be thankful for. Another year older = more wisdom…more learning…greater understanding and well, an overall sense of feeling all that more liberated. I have all the more patience to fathom the changes that occur around us and why they do. There is a firmer grip on reality and a focus on all things that have importance.

I also think that it is in the last few years that I have fallen in love with myself and I don’t say it in a narcissist way but as an appreciation of all that I am and all that I have become. It is a stage in life that you stop caring about what others have to say and only listen to that inner voice that you should have been listening to rather than of those that are not welcome or required. It is also when you come to terms that you are not here to please others but yourself.

Relationships make so much more sense…you respect, treasure and appreciate them and in the bargain also realise the importance of bonding rather than having ties that being as delicate and intricate as strings, getting snapped and broken. I think it all boils down to self-awareness and self-esteem being the key ingredients in all relationships. If we know who we are, either we are satisfied with our own resources and talents, or we can try to improve and enhance them. I reckon it all starts with you. You are the only one who can influence the power dynamics in your life and have the ability to impact others and transform relationships, from positional power into mutual power, fear into opportunity, and territorial energy into positive, vital energy.

With the golden thread of trust, we weave our lives together like a beautiful tapestry and establish relationships based on mutual love and appreciation. Our ability to communicate openly with candour and caring, determines the quality of the connectivity between us as individuals and while we don’t always talk about it, we feel it. Knowing where we stand is vital to our success.

“Ma’am I know it is rude to ask a lady her age but still… May I know how old you really are??!!” “But of course,” I say. “Just 51…!”

And for those who fib about their age… COVID-19 has brought them to reality with a THUD… For the quest of the ‘shot’, had them rushing with documents depicting proof of age!

Mind Over Matter!
